The cold weather over the weekend caused over 21 residential and commercial water lines to freeze and break. This has caused the system to experience excessive water flow and has brought the water towers to go below fire safety levels. Due to this, we had to make the decision to turn wells on that we don’t usually use. This has caused discoloration. Although the water from these wells are treated, they are not filtered which causes the discoloration.
We are hoping to have one of the wells offline by the end of the week.
We are eager to have DEP's approval to activate the new High Street Water Treatment Facility within 2 weeks. This will begin filtering the water from the High Street wells, which will greatly improve the aesthetics of the water.
REMINDER: There is a Bluedrop machine located at 151 High Street. Residents can fill unlimited water jugs free of charge.
